چکیده

Currently handheld and palmtop computers are widely used for personal information management. In the near future they will also be used to access enterprise data. There are however, numerous technical challenges in enabling an end-to-end system that provides enterprise data access from mobile computers. The challenges include heterogeneity, various resource constraints, scalability, and security. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of the Mobile Data Synchronization Service(MDSS), an endto-end system that provides enterprise data access from mobile computers. Specifically, we address the heterogeneity of devices and data sources, the memory and power constraints of devices, the poor quality of communication, and the need for scalability. Our system achieves interoperability and solves the key technical challenges related to enterprise data access from mobile computers.

On - Demand Data Broadcasting for Mobile Decision Making ∗ MOHAMED

The wide spread of mobile computing devices is transforming the newly emerged e-business world into a mobile e-business one, a world in which hand-held computers are the user’s front-ends to access enterprise data. For good mobile decision making, users need to count on up-to-date, business-critical data. Such data are typically in the form of summarized information tailored to suit the user’s ...

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

Dynamic Service Placement in Mobile Micro-clouds

Cloud computing is an important enabling technique for running complicated applications on resource-limited handheld devices, personal computers, or small enterprise servers, by offloading part of the computation and storage to the cloud. However, traditional centralized cloud architectures are incapable of coping with many emerging applications that are delay-sensitive and require large amount...

SMSSec: An end-to-end protocol for secure SMS

Short Message Service is usually used to transport unclassified information, but with the rise of mobile commerce it has become an integral tool for conducting business. However, SMS does not guarantee confidentiality and integrity of the message content. This paper proposes a protocol called SMSSec that can be used to secure an SMS communication sent by Java’s Wireless Messaging API. The physi...
